Raas x Cosmobowl Bowl: Ural red clay made for the Quasar Raas

The Raas x Cosmobowl Bowl celebrates the collaboration between Quasar and the Russian maker Cosmobowl, a specialist in red clay bowls. Hand-shaped clay fired at 1,100 °C

Cosmobowl shapes its bowls from red clay quarried in the Urals, renowned for its mineral richness and its resistance to very high temperatures. Each piece is formed by hand, then fired at 1,100 °C: the result is a sturdy bowl that stores heat and releases it steadily throughout the session. Designed for Quasar Raas heat management systems

This bowl is compatible with the Quasar Raas, Quasar Raas 2 and Quasar Raas 2 Black Hole heat management systems. Its dimensions — 85 mm in diameter by 20 mm high — are calibrated to fit the Raas perfectly, with no aluminium foil. Its phunnel shape, with a central spire, stops the juice running down the stem and keeps the molasses intact until the last puffs.

Capacity by type of molasses

The Raas x Cosmobowl holds around 22 g of blonde molasses or 28 g of dark molasses. Dark molasses, being denser, packs more tightly and handles the sustained heat of red clay well; blonde molasses should be packed more loosely for a gentle draw. In both cases, do not go above the rim of the spire.

How to use it

Fill the bowl without packing it down too much, set the Quasar Raas heat management system directly on top and let it come up to temperature for a few minutes before the first puffs. Thanks to the red clay's heat retention, the heat stays stable once the bowl is up and running: no need to overload it with charcoal. After the session, let it cool down completely before washing in lukewarm water; avoid thermal shock.
